January 13th, 2022 by Adolfo

Be smart, play smart, and discover how to play craps the ideal way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately a century old. Current craps formed from the ancient English game called Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the origin of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s paladins gambled on Hazard through a siege on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was acquired from the castle’s name.

Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 1700s, when driven away by the English, the French moved south and located safety in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they brought their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s said that the Cajuns changed the name to craps, which is derived from the name of the bad luck throw of two in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi scows and throughout the country. A great many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the founder of current craps. In 1907, Winn built the current craps setup. He added the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to lose. Later, he designed the spaces for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
