Be cunning, play clever, and learn how to play craps the ideal way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves date all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps formed from the ancient English game called Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the origin of the game, but Hazard is said to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It’s believed that Sir William’s soldiers gambled on Hazard amid a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.
Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when displaced by the English, the French moved down south and found sanctuary in southern Louisiana where they a while later became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns changed the title to craps, which is gotten from the name of the bad luck throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi scows and all over the nation. A good many think the dice builder John H. Winn as the founder of current craps. In 1907, Winn built the current craps setup. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so gamblers can wager on the dice to lose. At another time, he developed the spots for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
